Newbury marketing agency hopes to reduce the stress of isolation for staff and clients through live group fitness

B2B tech PR, Inbound and Channel Marketing agency, The Essential Agency, has partnered with Hungerford-based Natt Summers, award-winning personal trainer, fitness author and founder of Accomplish Fitness to deliver live workouts to staff and clients during the Covid-19 lock down.

At the beginning of March, Sam Rudland, Managing Director of The Essential Agency, Newbury, felt that there would be a risk to the mental health of her team and that of her clients when it became increasingly clear that the majority of the UK workforce would be confined to working from home.

“By our very nature, marketing and PR people tend to be quite bubbly and we thrive from working together. I knew that taking that daily camaraderie away would leave many of us feeling isolated. I’ve experienced first-hand that fitness helps to combat stress and has a really positive impact on our health and well-being. I’ve always encouraged my team to keep fit and I train with some of them regularly. So when it seemed likely that we’d need to move to homeworking I wanted to find a way to help my team and our clients to feel connected even when we can’t meet in person, to stay positive and to hopefully have a bit of a giggle, even if it’s at my expense as I’m not overly coordinated!”

Sam turned to her personal trainer Natt Summers of Accomplish Fitness in Hungerford to discuss the option of team and client live virtual workouts.

“Great minds think alike! It was around the same time that Sam approached me that I had started to plan how I was going to continue training my regular clients during these unprecedented times. I was delighted to help Sam with her initiative, Sam is a forward thinking leader who clearly wants to look after both her staff and clients but her drive wasn’t just to keep them physically fit, it was also to enable them to continue to interact with each other in a fun environment, keeping them feeling positive and connected.”

Natt Summers had previously offered personal training over video for clients who were unable to come into the studio to train and has now moved all of its classes, bootcamps and PT sessions online until the isolation measures are lifted.

“I would encourage all business leaders to consider providing some live training options to help reduce the feeling of isolation staff will be feeling which can quickly turn into stress which is proven to impact the immune system. Stay fit. Stay safe.”
